Faith without works

James in chapter 2 verse 14 asks: 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him? James is talking about putting our money where our mouth is so to speak, or why say something and not do it? Doing something shows meaning much better than words ever can. 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Here James is saying if someone is in need and we do nothing, who benefits? We can have all of the good thoughts in the world for someone and if we don’t share of what God has given us James asks what use is it? Imagine someone who is around us with a great need. Now imagine that we are in a position to fill that need. James doesn’t tell us to just pray and let God deal with it. He states that we should take it upon ourselves to fill the need if we can.

Now I know that there are a great many of you who are helping people with the needs that they possess. I know that some of you are quietly being used in a mighty way. I have seen evidence of this in my own life. The Lord has used people in my life to lay seeds that were dormant for years and years. To this day I can remember seeds that were laid by people 30 years before they were harvested. At the time I didn’t think anything of it, but now I see how profound those seeds were. The Lord has even used enemies of mine, people who have genuinely hurt me to lay seeds for Him. So to anyone who has ever laid a seed, I thank God for you.

Some of us are not being used in the way that the Lord wants to use us. If the Lord is laying something on you to do, do it, step out. We are lacking fulfillment because we aren’t doing what we are supposed to do. I have seen some people who are actually bored with the relationship with Jesus. I encourage you to get to talking it out with God if you are afraid (that’s a common one), speak to Him. Get encouragement from others in the body. Our walk with God is one of faith and we won’t have all of the answers. We aren’t supposed to He does. I know that I have missed things that the Lord wanted me to do. I have tried to step out on faith for some things and they don’t always make sense. I am just trying to get closer to Him and try to bless others also. If I stay open Proverbs 3:5-6 states He will direct my path.

The world is spinning out of control and the time seems to be drawing short. I encourage you to keep up the work of the Lord. If you are being used thank Him. If you aren’t being used in the way He wants get involved. We can take small steps and move toward the direction. “The journey of 1000 miles begins with one step.” As you read this I am trying to move in a direction. Earlier this year I didn’t imagine I would be doing this blog. This is all very foreign for me, the blog, and social media, all of it. I am trying to just be used by the Lord. It wasn’t even that long ago that I couldn’t walk, and he pulled me through with His strength, so we will see what the Lord does now. He might use me in this blog, he might not, he might be using this in my life for something else. So I am trying to honor Him either way.

If you are doing things to show your faith, be encouraged. I hope the Lord blesses you for being a lamp on a lamp stand (Matt 5:14-15). If you are not the time isn’t too late. I hope either way this encourages you.
